3 vehicle automobile accident on I-95 in Broward County kills 1, injures 4

A three-vehicle crash occurred between a Ford Taurus, a Fort Expedition and a Cadillac Escalade on Monday shortly before 5:30 p.m. on southbound Interstate 95. The driver of the Ford Expedition was killed in the crash. The Escalade sideswiped two vehicles and then sped off, striking the Taurus moments later. The Escalade then struck the Expedition at which point both vehicles burst into flames, killing one of the drivers and critically injuring four people who remained hospitalized in serious to critical condition Tuesday morning, officials said. The driver’s remains were so charred that dental records may be needed to identify the person.

Authorities are investigating whether alcohol or speeding played a part in the Monday evening wreck, which stopped traffic on the highway for five hours.
