Pedestrian in Fort Lauderdale dies after being struck by a truck

A Fort Lauderdale real estate agent pedestrian had tried to cross Las Olas Boulevard at Southeast Second Avenue and was hit by a pickup truck. He died five hours after the accident having suffered a "severe head injury," a punctured lung and multiple broken bones.

The driver of a 2007 GMC truck was turning onto westbound Las Olas when he struck the pedestrian. Court records show the driver of the truck was cited for careless driving on March 1, 2010. The driver did remain at the scene. To date, no charges have been filed against him.
