Credit card information theft at gas stations

WPTV reported that "law enforcement across South Florida are warning people to watch out for small devices, known as skimmers, attached to ATMs and gas pumps. The skimmers put your personal information in the hands of criminals.

Here's how it works: A skimming device steals your account information, while a tiny video camera or keypad records your pin as you enter it. The information is then transmitted via Bluetooth to the thief waiting nearby.
With skimming devices becoming harder to detect, officials say it's up to you to protect your identity.

There are some simple steps you can take to protect yourself against ATM skimming: Whenever possible, use ATMs located inside businesses, when punching in your pin, always use one hand to cover the pad."
